ALGIL TINTA DE TORO 2018, D.O. TORO

BODEGAS IVAN ALONSO GIL, San Roman de Hornija-Valladolid

Algil is the culmination of a dream. A vision that has accompanied me since I was a child: recovering the value of a land that, despite its toughness, has given us everything through several generations of winegrowers. San Román de Hornija y Morales, a vineyard almost forgotten in a denomination that is synonymous with red clays; of resilience and survival; of a long-lived viticulture, of his passion for wine ... of a deal agreed with nature itself.

Made from 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), from 25 to 40 year-old vines planted at 700m above sea level. Early harvest in the first quarter of September, a warm and very dry year with very low yields but a very healthy grape. Manual harvest in 15kg boxes with selection in the vineyard. The vineyards are located in Morales de Toro and San Román de Hornija, within the D.O, Toro.

VINIFICATION:

Reception with manual selection of grapes in the cellar, cold maceration for 5 days and fermentation in a stainless-steel vats at a maximum temperature of 27º. during about 15 days, bleeding without presses. Malo-lactic in barrel with racking and aging for 6 months in single-use French oak (semi-new).

TASTING NOTES:

Intense cherry color with violet edges, medium / high layer. On the nose, very expressive with aromas of ripe fruit and floral… memories of berries. In the palate, fine and subtle entry, powerful and persistent flavor of ripe fruit with light nuances of toasted barrel from aging in barrels, with along and pleasant finish.
